Dr. Sandeep Marwah Participates in BIS Service Sector Division Council Meeting

New Delhi: Dr. Sandeep Marwah, Chair of the Media & Entertainment Committee and Member of the Service Sector Division Council (SSDC) of the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Government of India, attended an important meeting of the Service Sector Division Council held recently in New Delhi.

The meeting brought together Chairpersons and representatives of various departments functioning under the Service Sector Division Council to deliberate on the development, implementation, and strengthening of standards across diverse service sectors in India.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Sandeep Marwah emphasized the growing importance of standardization in the Media and Entertainment industry. He highlighted that well-defined standards contribute significantly to quality enhancement, professional excellence, global competitiveness, and consumer confidence. He reiterated the commitment of the Media & Entertainment Committee towards creating robust benchmarks that support the rapid growth of the sector.

Shri Sanjay Pant, DDG (Standardization-II), Bureau of Indian Standards, addressed the gathering and stressed the vital role of standardization in ensuring quality, safety, efficiency, and international acceptance of Indian services. He encouraged greater participation from industry leaders and experts in the standards development process.

Shri Rajneesh Khosla, Scientist-F and Head of the Service Sector Department (SSD), BIS, elaborated on the ongoing initiatives undertaken by BIS to strengthen service sector standards. He discussed future plans and the collaborative approach required among various stakeholders to enhance service quality and facilitate economic growth.

The meeting witnessed active participation from Chairpersons and members representing different committees and departments under the Service Sector Division Council. Discussions focused on policy initiatives, standardization frameworks, capacity building, and future strategies for strengthening service sector standards across the country.

The Bureau of Indian Standards continues to play a pivotal role in developing national standards that support India’s vision of quality excellence and sustainable development across industries and services.
