New Delhi, July 26, 2024 – The Global Counter Terrorism Council (GCTC), one of India’s leading public policy think tanks based in New Delhi, marked the 25th anniversary (Rajat Jayanti) of Kargil Vijay Diwas with a solemn and commemorative event. Dr. Sandeep Marwah, President of the International Chamber of Media and Entertainment Industry (ICMEI) and Chancellor of AAFT University, served as the Key Speaker at the online conference held on this occasion.
Dr. Marwah, who was also holding earlier the position of District Commandant in the Delhi Home Guards, a paramilitary force, shared his insights, which significantly contributed to the event’s success. His extensive experience and profound knowledge added immense value, making the event a memorable tribute to the valor and sacrifice of the soldiers.
The observance began with a wreath-laying ceremony at the National War Memorial to honor the Kargil War Heroes. This was followed by an online conference titled “Lessons Learnt from the Kargil Conflict.” The conference was organized in association with Miranda House College, University of Delhi, NCC (National Cadet Corps), AAFT University, and ICMEI. Aditya Tikoo, Founder Convener of GCTC, highlighted the significance of the event and the collaborative efforts of the participating institutions.
Kargil Vijay Diwas is celebrated annually to remember and pay tribute to the soldiers who laid down their lives protecting the sovereignty and integrity of India. Each year, GCTC honors the bravery and sacrifice of these martyrs, ensuring their heroism is never forgotten. This year’s 25th anniversary was a poignant reminder of the unparalleled heroism displayed during the Kargil conflict.
The program was graced by dignitaries from various fields, including armed forces personnel, bureaucrats, families of Kargil martyrs, Kargil War veterans, academicians, students, and NCC cadets. Their presence underscored the event’s importance and the collective respect for the soldiers’ sacrifices.
