Noida: Celebrating the growing cultural engagement between India and Suriname, H.E. Hanisha Jairam, Ambassador of Suriname, was honoured with Hindi Cinema Samarthak during the 19th Global Film Festival Noida 2026 at Marwah Studios, Film City, Noida. She was also presented with the Festival Memento and received the Award of Distinction for the film from Suriname showcased at the festival.

The honours highlighted the importance of international participation in promoting cinema and strengthening cultural understanding. The occasion also celebrated the encouraging progress of the Indo Suriname Film and Cultural Forum, which has gained momentum as a platform for creative exchange between the two countries.

“The Indo Suriname Film and Cultural Forum has made an encouraging beginning, bringing our nations closer through cinema, art and cultural interaction. We are delighted to honour H.E. Hanisha Jairam with Hindi Cinema Samarthak and to recognise the film from Suriname with an Award of Distinction. These exchanges create valuable opportunities for filmmakers and audiences to discover each other’s stories,” said Dr. Sandeep Marwah, President of ICMEI and Chair of the Indo Suriname Film and Cultural Forum, in proposed remarks.

The recognition of the Surinamese film underscored the festival’s commitment to welcoming diverse cinematic voices and encouraging dialogue across cultures.

“It is a pleasure to participate in this celebration of cinema and friendship. I deeply appreciate the recognition extended to Suriname and its film. The Indo Suriname Film and Cultural Forum offers a meaningful opportunity to strengthen cultural ties, encourage creative collaboration and deepen the understanding between our people,” said H.E. Hanisha Jairam in proposed remarks.

The presentation reaffirmed the shared commitment to advancing India–Suriname cultural relations through film and the arts. It also reflected the festival’s guiding spirit of “Love, Peace and Unity Through Art and Culture.”
