Noida, India: The Asian Academy of Film and Television (AAFT) was honored to welcome Phunsok Ladhakhi, the accomplished singer, director, actor, social activist, and yoga teacher, to its campus after 23 long years. Known for his significant contributions to the cinema and culture of Ladakh, Phunsok’s return to AAFT marked a moment of nostalgia and inspiration for the institution.
Dr. Sandeep Marwah, President of AAFT, warmly received Phunsok, recalling his journey and expressing admiration for his dedication to the arts and social causes. “Phunsok Ladhakhi embodies resilience, creativity, and a commitment to using art for meaningful impact. We are thrilled to have him back at AAFT, where his story and expertise will ignite a spark in our students,” said Dr. Marwah.
Phunsok’s illustrious career began in Bollywood, but his true calling took him back to his homeland, Ladakh. There, he made significant strides in promoting Ladakhi cinema while earning recognition as a multifaceted artist and social activist. Over the years, he expanded his influence globally by teaching yoga and sharing the unique cultural essence of Ladakh with the world.
During his visit, Phunsok conducted a workshop for AAFT students, offering insights into filmmaking, acting, and the importance of cultural authenticity in creative endeavors. Sharing his journey, he emphasized the value of perseverance and staying connected to one’s roots.
“I am deeply honored to return to AAFT after 23 years. This institution laid the foundation for my creative journey. I hope to inspire students here to dream big, remain authentic, and use their talents to make a difference,” said Phunsok Ladhakhi.
