New Delhi: “Be a good listener, don’t discount the feelings of students, look at suicide as cry for help, encourage them to get help, don’t leave them alone, encourage them to see a professional consultant, maintain the secrecy of their problems, assist them during their suicidal feelings,” mentioned by Sandeep Marwah Chancellor AAFT University of Media And Arts, the suicide prevention tips in a seminar- Life Is Beautiful organised by EduTV online.
Earlier Sandeep Marwah explained the causes of suicides including mental disorder, Stressful life, over expectations from others and from your own self, excess of alcohol and drugs, family history, massive loss or fear of loss, chronic illness, Social isolation, cry for help, breakoff and end of relationships, academic burden, fear to get arrested, humiliation and financial problem is also one of them.
You have to catch the symptoms in advance in the behavior of students like where there is an extreme mood swing, feeling of hopelessness, when you find them giving away possession of their things, when they start losing the interest in activities, when they start talking about death and suicides, when they start saying good byes to family and friends and expressing withdrawal systems, we all have to take special care of these children to get them back to normal behavior,” added Sandeep Marwah.
