Noida, India, 6th August 2024: The International Chamber of Media and Entertainment Industry (ICMEI), on behalf of the entire fraternity of art and culture in India, extends its warmest congratulations to H.E. Jason Hall, High Commissioner of Jamaica to India, and the people of Jamaica on the occasion of their Independence Day. Celebrated on 6th August, this day marks a significant moment in Jamaica’s history, symbolizing the nation’s journey toward freedom and its rich cultural heritage.
Dr. Sandeep Marwah, President of ICMEI, conveyed his best wishes, stating, “India and Jamaica share strong and vibrant relations, grounded in mutual respect and cultural affinity. As Jamaica celebrates its Independence Day, we celebrate the growing bond between our two nations and look forward to deepening this relationship further.”
The Indo-Jamaica Film and Cultural Forum, established to promote cultural exchanges and artistic collaborations between India and Jamaica, holds tremendous potential for strengthening bilateral ties. Dr. Marwah highlighted the need to promote this forum at a larger scale, saying, “The Indo-Jamaica Film and Cultural Forum is an important platform for showcasing the rich cultural heritage of both countries. We are committed to expanding this initiative and fostering even stronger cultural ties between India and Jamaica.”
In addition to cultural initiatives, ICMEI has been actively engaged in diplomatic interactions. The visits of ICMEI officers to the High Commission of Jamaica in India have marked the beginning of a fruitful relationship. However, Dr. Marwah emphasized that these efforts need to be more prominently highlighted. “The initial visits to the High Commission were significant steps in enhancing our bilateral relations. It is now crucial to spotlight these engagements and build upon them to further strengthen our ties,” he added.
