New Delhi: The International Chamber of Media & Entertainment Industry (ICMEI), in collaboration with the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) under the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Government of India, organized a technical session as part of the Full-Day Summit on Media & Entertainment Standards. The session aimed to explore the importance, objectives, and challenges of standardization in the media and entertainment industry.
Dr. Sandeep Marwah, Chair for the Committee in BIS, Ministry of Consumer Affairs, addressed the gathering and shared his observations on the evolving landscape of media standards. He emphasized the critical role of well-defined standards in fostering industry growth and ensuring quality across various media sectors.
The session featured insightful discussions led by prominent speakers, including: Dr. Pavan Duggal, Renowned Lawyer, specializing in cyber law and media regulations, Maj. Gen. Rajan Kochar, Vice Chairman of the National Council of News and Broadcasting, S.K. Kanojia, Head of Service Sector at BIS, Atul Churamani, Managing Director of Turnkey Music and Publishing Pvt. Ltd., Paritosh Saha, Executive Director of Jio Star, Shivam Soni, Scientist and Member Secretary, BIS.
Each speaker presented compelling case studies, showcasing the need for robust standards to address industry challenges. Discussions highlighted the significance of establishing consistent guidelines to enhance content quality, streamline processes, and address emerging issues in the media and entertainment sectors.
The technical session fostered a collaborative environment for industry experts, policymakers, and stakeholders to share experiences and insights, paving the way for a more standardized and efficient media ecosystem in India. Later Dr Sandeep Marwah honoured all the speakers with the life membership of International Journalism Centre of Marwah Studios.
